Buoyancy Support Pipe Floater

Product Description
High-Performance Pipe Floaters: Reliable Buoyancy Solutions for Marine & Industrial Piping Systems
Our Pipe Floaters are engineered to deliver exceptional buoyancy support for subsea, marine, and industrial piping systems, ensuring stable positioning, reduced structural stress, and long-term operational reliability.
Crafted from high-quality, UV-resistant polyethylene (PE) or ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) materials, these floaters boast superior durability—withstanding harsh environmental conditions such as saltwater corrosion, extreme temperatures (-40°C to 80°C), and prolonged exposure to sunlight.
Unlike traditional buoyancy solutions, our Pipe Floaters feature a lightweight yet robust design that minimizes installation effort while maximizing load-bearing capacity: each unit can support pipe diameters ranging from 50mm to 1200mm, with buoyancy ratings customizable from 50kg to 1000kg per floater.
Product Structure
No. Structure Name Material
1 Hull Polyethylene
2 Polyurethane hard Foam Core Closed-cell hard foam
3 Bolts&Nuts Galvanized Steel
Product Functions
Buoyancy Support & Positioning
Precisely engineered to counteract the weight of submerged pipes, preventing sinking or excessive bending. This ensures pipes remain at the required depth (e.g., 1-3 meters below the water surface) to avoid collision with marine vessels, seabed debris, or aquatic life.
Stress Reduction
By distributing the pipe's weight evenly across multiple floaters, our solution minimizes tensile stress on pipe joints, welds, and connectors. This reduces the risk of leaks, cracks, or structural failure—even in dynamic water conditions (e.g., waves, currents, or tides).
Corrosion & Wear Protection
The non-porous, chemical-resistant material of our floaters acts as a barrier between the pipe and corrosive elements (e.g., saltwater, algae, or industrial effluents). This extends the pipe's service life by up to 50% compared to unprotected systems.
Easy Maintenance & Inspection
Floaters are color-coded (standard options: red, blue, yellow) for quick identification of pipe segments, and their smooth surface allows for easy cleaning. Additionally, the modular design enables single-floater replacement—eliminating the need to shut down the entire piping system during maintenance.
Product Applications
  • Marine & Offshore Industry
    • Offshore oil and gas pipelines (subsea gathering lines, export pipelines)
    • Marine renewable energy systems (subsea cables for wind farms, tidal energy pipelines)
    • Port and harbor infrastructure (dredging pipelines, water intake/outfall lines)
  • Aquaculture & Fisheries
    • Fish farm water supply and drainage pipes
    • Aeration system pipelines in shrimp/crab ponds
    • Seafood processing plant effluent discharge lines
  • Municipal & Environmental Engineering
    • Municipal sewage treatment plant outfall pipes
    • Stormwater management systems (temporary floating pipelines during floods)
    • Lake/river sediment extraction pipelines
  • Industrial & Mining
    • Mining tailings discharge pipelines (freshwater or saltwater environments)
    • Chemical plant process pipelines (for transporting non-hazardous liquids)
    • Power plant cooling water intake/outlet pipelines
Product Usage Instructions
Step 1: Pre-Installation Preparation
  • Assess Piping Specifications: Measure the outer diameter (OD) of your pipe and calculate the total weight of the submerged pipe segment (including fluid inside). Use this data to determine the number of floaters required (refer to our "Buoyancy Calculation Guide" for formula: Number of Floaters = Total Submerged Weight ÷ Floater Buoyancy Rating).
  • Inspect Floater Condition: Check each floater for visible damage (e.g., cracks, dents) and ensure all accessories (clamps, bolts, gaskets) are included and in good condition.
  • Prepare Tools & Equipment: Gather necessary tools, including wrenches (adjustable or socket), tape measure, level, and safety gear (gloves, safety glasses, life jackets—if working on water).
Step 2: Floater Installation
  • Position the Pipe: Secure the pipe segment in a stable position (use temporary supports if working on land, or a barge if working on water) to prevent movement during installation.
  • Mount the Floaters:
    • For split-body floaters: Open the two halves of the floater, place them around the pipe at evenly spaced intervals (recommended: 1-3 meters apart, depending on pipe weight), and align the bolt holes.
    • For one-piece floaters: Slide the floater onto the pipe from the end (ensure the pipe end is free of obstacles) until it reaches the desired position.
  • Secure the Floaters: Tighten the clamping bolts using a wrench—ensure the floater is snug against the pipe, but not over-tightened (over-tightening may damage the pipe or floater). Use a torque wrench for consistency (refer to the product manual for recommended torque values: typically 25-50 N·m).
Step 3: Post-Installation Checks
  • Test Buoyancy: Submerge the piped-floater assembly in water (or simulate submerged conditions) to verify that the pipe remains at the correct depth and does not tilt or sink. Adjust the number of floaters if necessary.
  • Inspect Connections: Check all clamp bolts and pipe joints for leaks or looseness. Re-tighten any loose components.
  • Document Installation: Record the number of floaters used, their positions, and installation date for future maintenance reference.
